Ancient Buddhist Sites in Sri Lanka (BDI)

Posted on May 5, 2014May 5, 2014 by Dharma Documentaries
A quick overview of some of the important historical sites in Sri Lanka.

Ancient Buddhist Sites in Sri Lanka

This is a series of short videos made by the Hong Kong based Buddhist Door, hosted in Mandarin by Walter Ngai, and dubbed into English.

The series looks at three sites in Polonnaruwa (the Ancient City, Gal Vihara and Lankatilaka), Avukana, Dambulla, Sigiriya and Aluvihare. I am unsure if others will be eventually added to this list, but if so they will appear here.

The overview and look at the sites are slight as the videos only last a few minutes each, but as there is so little available on Sri Lankan historical sites (in English, at least), I thought to include them here.

For anyone who has seen the places themselves they will act as a reminder of the true wonders that were created in Buddhist Sri Lanka; and for those who haven’t yet been, maybe it will provide an inspiration to go.
