This is a very fine account of Marco Polo and his travels throughout the eastern world in the 13th century. His account of these travels became one of the best sellers of the medieval world, first in manuscript, and later on through the printing press.
Marco was born circa 1254 while his father and uncle were away on trading expeditions to the east. He seems only to have met his father when he was 15. And by the time he was 17 he set out on his 24-year long trip to the east.
The film is told as a spoken narrative, mainly based on his own stories, with some correction. Video is mainly of paintings and photos of the places he visited and the people he met, which include most prominently Kubla Khan, who he seems to have worked for for many years.
