H.E. Chogye Trichen Rinpoche’s Succinct Biography and Funeral

Posted on August 15, 2014March 20, 2022 by Dharma Documentaries
Two films, the first giving a short biogrpahy of one of the great Tibetan masters, and the second recording his moving funeral.

H.E. Chogye Trichen

This is a short biography of one of the great recent Tibetan masters, the Head of the Tsharpa branch of the Sakya lineage, H.E. Chogye Trichen Rinpoche.

He was born into a very different world of medieval Tibet in 1920 in the highly esteemed Kushang family, and was enthroned as a reincarnate lama in 1932.

He became one of the outstanding scholars of his day, mastering ritual and music, before starting on long and arduous meditation retreats.

In 1959 he left Tibet for Mustang, where his sister was married to the King, and later moved into Nepal to help re-establish Tibetan Buddhism there.

He also toured all over the world, and was one of the highly revered teachers of his generation.

In the playlist are two films. both around 20 minutes long. The fist gives a short account of his life and works.

The second is a moving record of his funeral in Kathmandu in 2007, after he passed away at the age of 87.

It’s a never wanted story to pursue his wealth and disciples within the family. It’s a sad story. But no one can stop from being born every day in our pure mind!
