Amazing China

Posted on June 20, 2016June 30, 2016 by Dharma Documentaries
Three short non-verbal videos from China featuring the Yungang Grottoes, the Leshan Giant Buddha statue, and shrines on Mt. Emei.

Amazing China

This is the first set of videos made by Milosh Kitchovitch for his series Amazing Places on Our Planet, in which I have picked out the ones of interest to Buddhists. The films are made of high quality videos with some beautiful background music, but no narration or further information.

In this first series we go to China to visit the beautiful Yungang Grottoes in Shanxi which were first carved out during the Northern Wei dynasty, starting around the mid 5th century and lasting for around 75 years.

The second site is the Leshan Giant Buddha in Sichuan, built during the Tang Dynasty at the confluence of three rivers, and looking at Mt Emei. Although a sitting Buddha it was the tallest sculpture in the pre-modern world, and is still extraordinary today. The third site is Mt. Emei itself and some of the many shrines on that mountain.
