Amazing Myanmar

Posted on July 4, 2016July 4, 2016 by Dharma Documentaries
Six short videos from Myanmar in the Amazing Places series covering temples and shrines in Yangon, Bagan, Mandalay and at the Golden Rock.

Amazing Myanmar

This is the third in the series of films published under the rubric of Amazing Places on Our Planet and made by Milosh Kitchovitch. Previously I showed a selection of films from China and Japan.

The films are made in high, and super-high definition format, and consist of videos taken at various shrines and temples around the country, with accompanying and appropriately soothing music.

In this week’s selection we start with the iconic Shwedegon Pagoda in Yangon, which really is as heavenly as it looks, before moving north for a balloon ride over Bagan in the morning, which is the highlight of this week’s selection.

We then see more of ancient Bagan from the ground, before moving on to the hilltop Popa Taung Kalat; next is a longer video from the wonderful temple at Mandalay and Sagaing, before we conclude with a visit to the Golden Rock in the south.

Although there is no narration, and no further information other than the temple and shrine names, it is a still very good just experiencing what it is like to visit these places, and we do get to see some of the real marvels of Buddhist art, architecture and sculpture.
