The Great Legacy

Posted on May 29, 2015May 29, 2015 by Dharma Documentaries
A movie from Myanmar involving a quest for the real legacy a girl in given from her dying Father, involving a heady mix of adventure, dancing, fighting, Dhamma and meditation.

The Great Legacy

Previously I highlighted Nivara?a – The Box of Desires, a very good film made in Myanmar by the French Buddhist isi Dhamma featuring young local actors, who all seem to have had a great time making it.

The Great Legacy was an earlier, and in some ways, more elaborate production by the same film maker, again helped by a cast of young actors, mainly from one school in Mandalay, together with a Sayalay who gives the central message.

The film is a mystery tale about a young girl who is given a great legacy by her Father on his death bed. The way to regain that legacy involves the girl in many adventures and plot twists, and a lot of Dhamma and meditation along the way.

The film is made on a budget which included one camera, mainly amateur actors, and a whole set of great ideas, which brings the Dhamma right home to where they live, and below the main film is a set of interviews with the maker and some of the actors.
