A Soldier becomes a Monk

A short documentary about Ven Sanghasena and the various good works he has been doing in Ladakh.

A Soldier becomes a Monk

This is a short documentary about the Ladhaki monk Ven. Sanghasena and his work in setting up his monastery near Leh, the capital of Ladakh. Ven. Sanghasena is a disciple of the great Acarya Ven Buddharakkhita.

The monastery began as a meditation centre, but has quickly developed into a social welfare organisation also, and now has schools and old people’s homes as well as clinics and other facilities.

The film mainly looks at the work he has been doing, with interviews with some of those benefiting from it, and with Ven Sanghasena himself. The centre now houses over 800 people.

With small personal means Bhante has managed to inspire many people to contribute to to the ongoing good works that he is supervising, and many poor Ladakhis of dfferent backgrounds are the beneficiaries.
