This is the last of three films following a pilgrimage made by Dr S Krishnaswamy, a Tamil historian, to some of the main Hindu centers in SE Asia. Although various forms of Buddhism prevail these days in these areas, they are all intermixed with both Hinduism and animism.
In the last of these very interesting films Dr Krishnamurty vists the culturally rich country of Cambodia, which for most of its early history was a Hindu Empire, and left beghind some of the greatest treasures, including the largest temple in the world, Angkor Wat.
Besides Angkor Wat, the team visit many other temples in the Angkor area, including Banteay Srei, the Bayon Temple, Ta Phrom, and many others. Everywhere we find outstanding examples of the sculpture work and other forms of art the Khmers excelled in.
Many of the temples that are shown in this film can be found photographed on my . It has been interesting to follow Dr Krishnaswamy on his pilgrimage, and informative as well, and it has shed light on these cultures from a different perspective.
