This is a wonderful film by the two people featured in the film as pilgrims, Florence Tran & Simon Allix, to what in Tibet is considered the center of the universe: Mount Kalaish and the nearby Lake Manasarovar.
The two protagonists both have reasons to go to on this pilgrimage, for Simon it is in honour of his brother Thomas, whom he traveled on the same trip with previously, before he died in a car accident; for Florence one senses she is trying to find meaning in her life.
The journey is beautifully filmed, as they encounter local Tibetans and nomads along the road and share moments with them, and we see the magnificent scenery around the pilgrimage route, that ends up in the Milarepa Cave on the eastern side of the pilgrimage route around the mountain.
Simon is an artist and often stops along the trip to draw, and re-envision events of the past, while Florence is the videographer. There are some well-imagined graphics that recreate scenes from the past.
One thing that needs to be noted is, the narration is in English throughout, but some of the dialogue in French and Tibetan is without translation, it would have been better if there was a trasnlation for these parts, but I did not find its lack really a big problem.
