Life Beyond 2, The Museum of Alien Life

The second of two films looking at alien life, asks what would it look like if we found it?

Life Beyond 2, The Museum of Alien Life

This is the second film looking at the possibilities of there being alien life, and this time the focus is on: what would alien life look like, according to the laws of science as we presently know them?

They look at two possibilities, life elsewhere is very similar to life here, it may have varieties we are unfamiliar with, but it will be carbon based, and will be at some sort of stage of evolution we can identify.

And a question that arises in connection with this is: where do we look for signs of life? So far we have looked almost exclusively at other planets, within the so-called habitable zone around stars, but it may be that brown dwarf stars would also provide the right conditions for life.

Or it may be that life evolves from silicon, or other elements that are unknown to produce life on earth, and maybe in extreme places we wouldn’t even think of looking. Or it may be a kind of biological machine life is a higher form that we now know.

This is another fascinating glimpse at alien life and what it might mean should it be discovered. Many scientists think we are now on the verge of that discovery, which would certainly be life changing should it happen.
