This is another interesting short film made at the Archaeological Survey of India, this time about Kushinagar, the Place of Buddha’s Mahaparinibbana.
The film has some interesting footage, particularly in that the main statue in the Nibbana temple has its railings removed so we can see the plinth and statue clearly, and without obstruction.
The same can be said for the famous Awakening statue housed nearby, and at the Rambhar Stupa; and the film also mentions the three Chinese pilgrims who visited the site: Faxian, Xuanzang and Yijing.
There are photographs from the 19th and 20th centuries, and also plans of the site, and the film covers a lot of ground for its meagre 10 minutes.
