Bodh Gaya, the Seat of Enlightenment

Posted on February 22, 2019February 22, 2019 by Dharma Documentaries
Interviews with pilgrims at the central pilgrimage site of Bodhgaya, in which they tell the story of the Buddha and his teachings.

Bodh Gaya, the Seat of Enlightenment

This is a very well photographed and interesting film from Bodhgaya, made by MSN Karthik, which consists of quotations from the Buddha’s teachings and explanations about his life and teachings as given by pilgrims at the site.

Most of those interviewed are monastics, but there are also some involved lay people also, and the whole film makes for a very interesting take on the story as it is understood and told by people themselves in oral history form, rather than being an official biography.

The film is not very long, around half an hour, and is divided into five chapters concerning the Awakening, the Beginning (of the renunciation), the history (of his life), the metamorphosis (during Awakening) and the role (of the Awakened mind).

The film is a beautiful memorial for those who have been there and an encouragement for those who have not.
