This is one of the best documentaries of its kind I have seen and covers in a very short span of time the life of the Buddha and the foundation of the religion, its doctrine and diversion into the various schools.
For the most part it consists of a narration against a continual background of either Buddhist art or Buddhist scenes at temples, etc. which are generally well chosen and attractive
There are one or two small glitches in the film, for instance when they start talking about Mahayana scriptures, and show a Burmese manuscript to illustrate it, but these are much smaller in number than other films on the subject.
There are also a number of interviews which help move the story forward at certain places, and among those interviewed are Dr. Rina Sircar, Prof. Lewis Lancaster and Kwong-roshi.
