One of my aims in starting this site was to preserve historical films about Buddhism and Buddhist Culture, that would otherwise just disappear, as so much of our culture is doing.
This is a film made by the China Institute in America in 1972 about the rise and progress of Buddhism in China from its earliest beginnings up and to the present day.
Given the vast scope of its content, it is remarkably well written and presented, and covers all the main events in Buddhist history, including personalities, schools, philosophies, persecutions and evolution.
Besides this it manages to show a wealth of Buddhist artwork from China, and has interesting graphics, maps and drawings. It is almost a picture poster for the sort of film that should be preserved.
