This is the 3rd part of Walid Haddad’s study of just one section of one wall at Borobudur, the whole, in four parts, runs to around 4 1/2hrs in all. This section covers from the 187th relief up and till the 279th. (Part One; Part Two).
As we get farther along the wall it becomes increasingly difficult to identify the scenes. But there are some interesting stories in this section, like The Tradition about the Turtle, The Birth Story of Nandiya and a whole series of tableaus with the Buddha as a central figure.
If you are going to Borobudur I highly recommend watching the videos first so that you can get the most out of your visit. But even if you are not going, from the video you can learn in short form the gist of the story, and see how the master craftsmen at Borobudur were able to envision the scenes.
if the video does not appear on the page, try reloading the page; and if that doesn’t work, leave a comment so I can update the page (the comment is not published)
