A record of the replacement of the crystal pinnacle at the Ruwanweli Seya in Anuradhapura.

Ruwanweli Maha Seya at Anuradhapura

This is a record of the preparations for the replacement of the crystal pinnacle on the Ruwanweli Maha Seya at Anuradhapura in late 2019, which was organised by the Vishwa Parami Trust.

The Trust have previously done a number of very good deeds including having the Vajrāsana at Bodhgaya gilded, and new surroundings for the Mahā Bodhi tree in Anuradhapura.

Following the success of these ventures they set out to replace the damaged crystal pinnacle at the Ruwanweli Maha Seya (sometimes also referred to as the Suwarnamāli Mahā Stūpa herein).

The film, which has English narration, and some short, untranslated interviews in Sinhala, follows the exhibition of the new pinnacle in Colombo, its procession through Sri Lanka, and the placing of the pinnacle on the top of one of the oldest stūpas in the world.

The great devotion of the people in Sri Lanka is evident throughout, and it is really a wonderful deed that has been carried through, reaffirming their devotion to the Buddha Sāsana.
