Land of Hope and Glory (Animal Farming)

Posted on October 4, 2019October 4, 2019 by Dharma Documentaries
A look at the brutal reality that is animal farming in the UK.

Land of Hope and Glory

This is a very disturbing film about animal farming in the United Kingdom shot over a period of 10 years which reveals just how horrific the industry has become.

Gone are animals roaming about on farmland in a beautiful English landscape, and in its place is industrial farming on a brutal scale in which animals have become commodities in a relentless system.

The film is divided into sections, which look at pigs, cows (both dairy and beef), birds, including egg production, and sheep. We see a litany of over-crowded, abused and disease-ridden animals denied even the very basics of a normal life.

The only things that count for the people controlling these animals are their productive capacities, whether that be meat, milk or eggs. If they are not productive they are slaughtered and disposed of.

I really think films like this should be made compulsory viewing for meat eaters. They should have to see at least once what their choices entail, and not be able to hide behind a screen of ignorance.

For those who work in the industry and are willing to endure imposing this kind of suffering on others there is little hope. If they see it and are willing to live with it, they are already dehumanized.

People who want to learn more, and find out how to help oppose this industry, can find the film on its own website, with links to many resources about the film and activism. Take action now!
