This is another Jātaka story from the team around Wat San Francisco. This time it focuses on the generational antagonism of two rivals. The story is told in relation to one monk in the present who supported his parents when they had fallen into poverty.
The Buddha tells a story of an unnamed boy who was adopted by a Yakkhini, and lived on human flesh. One day a king was caught by him and the king’s son, Jayaddisa, persuaded him he was a man, and to give up his evil habits.
The Yakkhini’s son became an ascetic, and Prince Jayaddisa took over as king. The story bears some resemblance to the Sutasoma story, and both end with the naming of the region the events took place in as Mahākammāsadamma. Full Story.
