South Korea, the Land of Many Miracles

Posted on December 19, 2025December 19, 2025 by Dharma Documentaries
A tour of some of the most famous temples of South Korea, along with a look at some of its important culture.

South Korea, the Land of Many Miracles

This is a very interesting film looking at the Buddhist Temples and traditions in South Korea, especially through the eyes of Jun Anh, one of its youngest and most famous photographers.

It starts by visiting a rather new temple of Songaksa, which features many monumental statues. We also visit Chilbulsa Temple on Mount Jiri, which was the scene of one of the great battles of the Korean war.

We then go on a diversion which takes us to folk opera, the importance of tea in Korean life, and the work of one of its most renowned calligraphers.

Other temples visited include Hwagyesa, the temple of the great modern Zen master, Sungsang, and Haeinsa, which houses the Tripitaka Koreana, which was carved on 80,000 blocks during the 13th century.

All in all, this is a special look at the culture and temples of South Korea, made even more interesting by it being presented by Jun Anh.
