Bagan, Myanmar (Expoza)

Posted on October 10, 2016November 12, 2016 by Dharma Documentaries
A film about the history and culture of the Medieval city of Bagan in Myanmar.

Bagan, Myanmar

This is from a series of films by Global Television shot all over world, giving well photographed introductions to various places, of which we will be focusing on the ones of interest to Buddhists.

The films are quite light introductions to their subjects, mainly good photography, well chosen soundtracks, and a reasonable, but sometimes inaccurate, narration giving a cultural and historical introduction to its subject.

This one focuses on Bagan in Myanmar, which flourished from the 9th to the 13th centuries, and left behind some of the finest remains from the Medieval period found in the world today.

During that period more than 10,000 temples were built in the city, of which more than 2,000 remain to this day. The site at dawn and dusk is almost surreal, with the stupas and temple spires against the horizon, and one can only imagine how magnificent it must of looked in its heyday.
