Angkor Wat, Ancient Hydraulic City

Posted on September 22, 2023September 22, 2023 by Dharma Documentaries
A look at the amazingly advanced technology that underlies the building of the largest temple in the world.

Angkor Wat. Ancient Hydraulic City

This is a very good overview of Angkor Wat, tracing its history and rediscovery by Mouhot in the 19th century, who popularised the place and its legends in Europe.

But most interestly it also covers how modern Lidor technology has revealed what the city looked like when it was at its peak, with over 1,000,000 inhabitants and fabulous engineering and use of resources.

When it comes to engineering, this film uncovers some of the more remarkable achievements of the ancient builders, who turned a land into a vast hydraulic civilisation; had advanced knowledge of astrology, and who even used their magnificent sculptures to keep track of the days.

Towards the end it gets a little more speculative that I am comfortable with, but the preceding information is of such great interest I would urge you to watch it, and make up your own minds.
