Thai Kings and Temples (Folkways of Indochina)

Posted on May 25, 2015March 13, 2022 by Dharma Documentaries
A look at the relationship between the Thai country, King and religion (English narration, some Mandarin interviews, with subtitles).

Thai Kings and Temples

These two episodes from CNTV’s Folkways of Indochina series look at the relationship of King and Religion as it has presented itself in Thailand from the beginnings to the present day.

From the very beginning of the Kingdom the Thai King has adhered to Buddhism, and the religion is deeply embedded in every aspect of Thai culture.

These programmes look at what that means in Thailand, exploring the situation from different angles, including art and architecture, international relations and cultural activities like massage.
