Takasera, a Portrait of a Himalayan Village

Posted on July 17, 2020July 17, 2020 by Dharma Documentaries
A look at a central Nepalese town as it readies itself for the biggest festival of the year.

Takasera, a Portrait of a Himalayan Village

This is an affectionate look at the remote Takasera town in Central Nepal, which is home to the Kham Magar indigenous people as they prepare for a big festival that will be honoured by the Prime Minister and others.

The film, which doesn’t have a narrator, but allows the words of the people, and their actions, to speak for themselves, appears to start a couple of weeks before the festival as the town starts to get ready for the festivities ahead, building pandals, stages and learning etiquette!

We see the people organising these events and then on the day itself how they dress in traditional costume, and engage in dance, etc. as they welcome the dignitaries to the festival.
