Drukpa Kunley is a controversial figure in Tibetan Buddhism, mainly because of his association with sexual practices, and with multiple partners (he was reputedly called: The Saint of 5,000 Women).
This AI video from the Awakening Purple Light channel does touch on these controversies, but it dwells much more on his challenges to institutional Buddhism in 16th century Bhutan.
He apparently had a very successful education in the monastery, and was deemed to be destined for high office, but at age 25 he took a wife (and then it seems many more). Whether he continued as a monastic at this time is not clear to me, although it would seem from the video he did.
In any case, it is hard to separate fact from fiction in his life, as he seems to have become the centre of many folk stories, which elevated him to a trickster figure, much associated with sexuality and fertility. He did in fact leave an autobiography which people can follow up on if they are sufficiently interested.
