A Monk’s Life (Thailand)

Posted on April 29, 2022April 29, 2022 by Dharma Documentaries
A beautiful film looking at the daily life of a young monk in NE Thailand.

A Monk’s Life

This is another of Phra Nick Keomahavong’s contemplative and insipiring films sharing scenes from monastic life in Thailand. This time we follow the daily activities of one young western monk who is living in the Pa Pae Meditation Retreat in the Chiang Mai district in Thailand.

The film is without narration, and simply looks quietly and meditatively at its subject, who himself hardly ever speaks, but just simply goes about his daily life: shaving, going for alms, cleaning round his dwelling, meditating and working together with his monastic friends and the supporters.

The life is very quiet and connected, and the monk is surrounded for most of the day by the sounds, smells and contact with the natural environment, and equally important, without the constant round of media related activities most people fill their days with. The film as always is beautifully filmed and edited, and gives an inside glimpse into the life it portrays.
