In the second of this PBS mini-series we see how the women’s movement, after making really dramatic breakthroughs in the 70s, was pushed back, not by men, but ironically enough, by other women in the 80s.
With the coming to power of the religious right represented by Ronald Reagan the early 80s, women who opposed the redefinition of women’s roles and rights came to prominence, and halted the movement in its tracks.
Some of the more morally ambivalent issues were challenged during this period and even issues that had once seemed settled again became the subject of debate
