The Voice of the Buddha

Posted on September 5, 2014September 5, 2014 by Dharma Documentaries
A documentary on the revival of Tipitaka chanting in modern times and a recording of some chanting from the festival in Kandy, Sri Lanka.

Voice of the Buddha

This is a documentary on the importance of chanting in Buddhism, the role it has played in the preservation of the religion, and the work of the Light of Buddhadharma Foundation in promoting the chanting of the Tipi?aka in the modern era.

The film was made once again by the prolific Benoy K Behl, and follows the work of the Foundation at its various events in Bodhgaya, and now in other places like Nagpur and Kandy, Sri Lanka, and the plan is to expand the number of countries involved and there are plans for recitals in Indoenesia at Borobudur, and in the States in Berkeley, California.

A lot of the footage in this film is taken at the historic audience hall of the Sri Dalada Maligawa, Kandy on the occasion of the International Tipitaka Chanting ceremony in 2013 and below I have embedded a second video with a live recording of the chanting of the Dhammacakkapavattanasutta from that occasion.
