This is the last of three films from SCTV Khampa that looks at the history, geography, wildlife and cultures of the Kham region, lying in the southern and eastern Tibet. It is, in fact, the 4th film in the series, but it appears the 3rd has not been posted.
The Love Song of Kangding is a very famous song in China apparently, and it even made the region of Khampa well-known all across China. Using this as a basis, this week’s episode looks at the unique features of the Khampa region, with its blend of Tibetan and Han culture.
It also traces the history of the song, and the songsters who sing it, and looks back at Khampa some 100 years ago when the first photographs were taken of the region. Although not so connected to Dharma this week, it is still an interesting look at folklore in this region.
