This is another of the AI videos from the Buddhist Legacy channel which looks at one of the tallest buildings in the ancient world, the Great Stūpa built by King Kanishka of Kushan, which stood near what is today Peshwar in Pakistan.
The video explores what is known about the building, which indeed seems to have changed over the years as it was rebuilt several times. A number of pilgrims—Chinese and Korean—recorded seeing it, and it does seem to have made a deep impression of everyone.
The video also looks into the network of trade routes that Purushapura (modern-day Peshwar) stood at the heart of in those days, and explains how not only goods, but ideas, cultures and indeed religions travelled along these networks.
It was rediscovered in the early 20th century and a reliquary was found at the site, the bones from which were rehoused in Mandalay. The reliquary itself being in Peshwar Museum.
This is another good effort by Buddhist Legacy and it is good to see how AI can be used to bring alive history and people and places of the distant past, making it meaningful in a way that ruins perhaps do not.
