Yogis-of-Tibet

This film from 2002 is a look at the esoteric world of the Tibetan yogi, and includes interviews with some outstanding practitioners in the modern era.

The documentary opens by giving a 15-minute overview of the yogi tradition and its development including some interesting historical footage from the early part of the 20th century.

It then moves on to modern-day India, and particularly Dharamasala, where we see interviews with H.H. Dalai Lama, H.E. Choje Togden Tinpoche, H.E. Garchen Rinpoche, Lamchen Gyalpo Rinpoche and many others.

There is also film brought back from secret locations in Tibet of yogis on long silent retreat. We also have excerpts from an interview with one of the most famous yogis of the modern era, Ven. Drubwang Konchok Norbu Rinpoche.

Towards the end there are also some demonstrations of Tibetan equivalents of kriya yoga by Chenga Rinpoche, and discussions about maintaining compassion in a hostile world. The film ends with a look at the development of the Tibetan tradition in the USA.
