Siem Reap, Cambodia (Expoza)

Posted on December 12, 2016December 12, 2016 by Dharma Documentaries
A visit to Siem Reap in Cambodia to see the historical sites at Angkor, and also a visit to Tonle Sap and other cultural sites.

Siem Reap, Cambodia

This is from a series of films by Global Television shot all over world, giving well photographed introductions to various places, of which we will be focusing on the ones of interest to Buddhists.

The films are quite light introductions to their subjects, mainly good photography, well chosen soundtracks, and a reasonable, but sometimes inaccurate, narration giving a cultural and historical introduction to its subject.

Today’s video is about Siem Reap and the nearby ancient site of Angkor, which is one of the finest archaeological parks in Asia, and the one that receives the most visitors.

The scale of the Angkor site is way in excess of any site in the ancient world, and is believed to have covered around 1,000 sq kilometres, and to have been home to more than a million people.

The Angkor capital moved several times during the Empire’s duration, and that gave ample room to start new buildings, and set up bigger and better temples.

Besides the historical site the film also looks at the cultural activities around Sien Reap, and visits the nearby Tonle Sap, to see life on the lakeside.
