Subtitled ‘The Theravada Monastic Tradition in Myanmar’ this beautifully photographed documentary by Theodore Martland gives an outline of the monastic life in Myanmar, with an emphasis on meditation.
The documentary features interviews with Ven. Dr. Nandamalabhivamsa, Ashin Kelasa and the Burmese nun and social worker Dr. Molini and also the occasional lay person.
Following the monks on pindapata, their studies, and during their chanting and meditation sessions, the film presents a somewhat naive and idealistic view of the life.
Unfortunately the film is slightly marred by an unnecessary series of slow and fast motion sequences from Shwedagon near the end, with add nothing to the film.
